Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Floor Vase with Applied Foliage and Berries, Molded from Life, probably Pennsylvania, circa 1890, ovoid-bodied vase with flared rim, decorated with a raised stucco-like surface with molded and applied stems bearing leaves and berries, the interior and exteror surface covered in a salt glaze. Exceptional large size. This piece is excellent demonstration of the utilitarian stoneware school melding the rising Arts and Crafts style during the late 19th century. Provenance: Found in Williamsport, PA. Expected losses to the applied decoration, particularly to the delicate leaves. Rim chips. Glazed-over lines at base. H 17 3/4".
