Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "NORTH BAY," New York State origin, mid 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a flowering daisy plant featuring three cross-hatched blossoms. Slip-trailed "4" to shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. 5" crack from rim on front. Four cracks from rim, the longest on reverse, measuring 8". Some flaking to surface. A chip on interior of rim. A minor base chip. Tiny nick to one handle. Some short lines at base.
