Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with an artistically-rendered design of a cluster of grapes hanging from a stem with several leaves and a looping vine. Excellent detail to leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Small chips on interior of spout. 1 1/4" base chip on reverse, beside a minor base nick.
