Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Heart Decoration, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Massachusetts origin, circa 1815, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled shoulder, spout, and base, the front impressed with two hearts below the mark "CHARLESTOWN". Iron-oxide dip to base. Excellent form with nice tooling. A smooth chip to underside at edge and other tiny base chips. A few typical in-the-firing contact marks to jug.
