Rare Rockingham Pottery Anchor Pitcher, Impressed "J. MAYER / TRENTON, NJ," circa 1870, with relief design of an anchor with chain and molded, spurred handle, decorated with a streaked reddish-brown glaze over a light brown ground. Large impressed mark of J. Mayer, proprietor of the Arsenal Pottery of Trenton, NJ on underside. Large professionally-restored flake on interior of right side of spout, some of which extends onto exterior. An additional restored chip on right side of rim. H 9 1/4".
