Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Flying Hawk Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flying hawk above a stylized ground. Excellent size and decoration. Restoration to base on front, including much of ground decoration. Restored U-shaped crack on side of crock, extending from left side of front under handle and up reverse.
