Ovoid Stoneware Jug with Unusual Slip Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / NEW-YORK," Manhattan origin, circa 1820, approximately two or three gallon jug with ribbed handle and heavy tooling to spout and shoulder, the front decorated with a brushed purplish slip circle around the impressed maker's mark. This decoration, presumably a mixture of cobalt and manganese, is additionally applied more sparsely at the upper and lower handle terminals.
