Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Milkpan with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," Alexandria, Virginia origin, circa 1850, tapered pan with tooled shoulder, applied tab handles, and pouring spout, decorated with three brushed floral designs extending up the front. Reverse with four groups of brushed swags. Impressed under one handle "1 / B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased decades ago on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. 1" chip to back edge of one handle. Chipping to base.
