Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "H.B. PFALTZGRAFF / YORK, PA," circa 1870-1889, ovoid jug with rounded spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a paddletailed bird with raised wing, holding a leaf or worm in its beak. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. A difficult-to-find figural design by Pfaltzgraff. Excellent condition with some minor chipping to base.
