Two Pieces of Decorated Redware, American, 19th century, an ovoid jug with ribbed strap handle, and footed base, decorated with splashed manganese over a colorful mottled orange and red ground, New England origin, second quarter 19th century; paired with a redware plate with coggled edge and abstract slip decoration. Jug with 1 1/8" base chip and a few minor base chips, as well as a spout chip and very minor spout wear, a 7/8" unglazed pre-firing dent at base, and very minor handle wear. Plate with significant wear to slip, a few shallow rim chips, and surface cracking to reverse. H (of jug) 8 1/2".
