Rare Stoneware Bank with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870-1890, ovoid bank with footed base and nicely-form, bell-shaped finial, the front decorated with two large tulips extending from a horizontal stripe at base. Reverse decorated with a brushed leaf. Cobalt highlights to finial and surrounding the carved vertical slot at shoulder. One of the most highly-prized forms in the Remmey family's Philadelphia products. Excellent color. Chips to slot. Otherwise excellent condition with a minor contact mark to left side of front. H 7 1/4".
