Very Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Daisy Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER & G. GOETZMAN / ROCHESTER. N.Y." and "CORK & WEBB," circa 1850, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy plant featuring a bull's-eye center and shaded petals and leaves. Light cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Reverse impressed at the base "CORK & WEBB", presumably the name of a merchant partnership, which dealt in stoneware. Few examples of advertising stoneware made by Stetzenmeyer are known. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
