One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to H. Smith & Co., Alexandria, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied tab handles, decorated on the front with a brushed circular floral design with foliate embellishments. Reverse with stylized leaf or plant design. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Hole drilled in underside. 1 3/4" rim chip. Two Y-shaped surface lines on side of jar, with a small section of each visible on interior.
