Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Federal Shield Decoration, Stamped "POTTERY WORKS / LITTLE WST 12TH ST. NY," William Macquoid, New York, New York, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a Federal shield emblazoned with stars and stripes, flanked by branches. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's and capacity marks. Professionally-restored handle. Professional restoration to section of spout, shoulder, a crack extending through left side of decoration, and an area near base below decoration. Hairline in spout. Small flake to shoulder.
