Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, NY," circa 1875-1882, cylindrical jug with tall spout, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Desirable small-sized jug, somewhat difficult-to-find with a bird decoration. Glazed-over nick and a few short lines on top edge of spout. Glazed-over 1 1/8" line at base on reverse. 1 1/2" line at base. Some light staining to shoulder area.
