Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Drape Decoration, attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Boston, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared rim, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with three impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape motifs. Impressed with a number "3" on one side, and an inverted "3" on the opposite side. Base chips, the largest of which is glazed over. Iron pings to surface. Rim chips. Thin 5 3/4" crack from rim. 1/2" in-the-firing separation line in rim on opposite side.
