Extremely Rare Stoneware Jug with Incised Cat Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly NJ, late 18th or early 19th century, two-gallon ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and incised drape design around shoulder, the front decorated with a folky incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a cat standing atop a brushed cobalt ground resembling a large bird. Significant cracks throughout. Flakes or missing sections to jug, which have been filled with cement, including a very large area to right shoulder area. Spout and base chips.
