One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," Thompson Harrington, Lyons, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a tulip plant featuring two large blossoms and striped leaves. Brushed cobalt "1" to left of decoration. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Includes salt-glazed stoneware lid, probably not original to the jar. Rim chips. Some surface wear to cobalt. 1 1/4" hairline from rim. Wear to inner rim where the lid rests. Lid in excellent condition.
