One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Chainlink Decoration, James River Valley, VA origin, circa 1845, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and lug handles, with a brushed chainlink design below rim on front and reverse. Brushed "1" under one handle. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Some shallow base chips. Light wear to body. Light wear to ends of handles. Small stone protruding from shoulder directly below one handle. This stone is also visible on the interior with a 3 1/2" separation fissure, not visible on exterior.
