Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Incised "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, Georgia origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with streaky, olive-colored alkaline glaze, featuring an applied face with smiling mouth, large rock teeth, a hook-shaped nose, and pierced ears. Incised on underside "Lanier Meaders". Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Two smooth chips to base, which appear to be in-the-firing. H 10".
