Fine and Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Manganese Slash Decoration, attributed to the Cain Pottery, Sullivan County, TN, mid 19th century, finely-potted, vasiform jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and rounded rim, the surface decorated with bold, haphazardly-brushed manganese slashes and covered in a clear lead glaze. Striking decoration and color. Wear to rim. Heavy chipping to base. Some typical flecks of glaze loss to body and light wear around midsection. H 7 1/2".
