Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Tree Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO, / FORT EDWARD, NY," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a heavily-detailed tree flanked by a bush and shrubs. Excellent decoration with strong color. Significant restoration to very large piece reglued on front and two very large pieces reglued on reverse. Restoration does not touch cobalt. 2 3/4" and 1 1/2" chips to underside at edge. A few minor rim chips.
