Very Rare Miniature Shenandoah Valley Redware Cream Pitcher, attributed to S. Bell & Sons or J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, late 19th century, squat-shaped, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and footed base, decorated with streaks of green and brown over a light orange ground. Excellent size and form. The form of this pitcher is much more unusual than most miniature Strasburg creamers known. Very nice condition. Wear to rim. Reglued 7/8" x 1 1/8" chip on interior of right side of spout. Stone ping to side of handle and faint horizontal hairline through handle. Some additional light wear to handle. Some minor surface crazing to underside, a few lines of which extend onto base, all of which appears to be in-the-firing. Minor nick to base on reverse. Some traces of old black paint to foot and underside, not related to any sort of restoration. Some typical light scratches lead glaze. H 3 5/8" ; Diameter (at opening) 3 3/8".
