Rare and Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Vertical Stripe Decoration, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with heavily-tooled midsection, ribbed lug handles, and thin semi-rounded rim, the entire front heavily-decorated with seven vertical wavy stripes of cobalt. Shoulder with additional horizontal stripe. Base with cobalt script "4". A boldly-decorated example with excellent color, featuring highly unusual and visually-striking vertical striping. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
