Very Rare Painted Stoneware Face Jug, possibly North Carolina origin, 20th century, in the form of an African-American head with applied facial features, including large ears, the surface painted black with white highlights and pink lips. Spout with original wire-and-wood bail handle. One of a small number of face jugs, which surfaced in the 1990s, reportedly made by a Mr. Nelson in North Wilkesboro, NC, in the 1920's. Excellent condition. H 11 1/4".
