Rare and Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Bird on Stump, Stamped "ALBANY. NY," third quarter 19th century, semi-ovoid jug with rounded shoulder and semi-rounded spout, the front decorated with a finely slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird with heavily-detailed wing and breast, standing atop a tree stump. Slip-trailed "2" above. Scarce maker's mark and strong decoration. Excellent condition with a minor spout chip and a chip to side of handle.
