Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "BRADY & RYAN / ELLENVILLE, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. 1 3/8" rim chip on reverse. Small iron ping on one side. Glazed-over iron ping on one handle with some very short glazed-over cracks extending from it, remaining in handle. Shallow 3/4" in-the-firing contact mark / chip at base. Approximately 4 1/2" long Y-shaped hairline at base on reverse, continuing 6" onto underside. Faint 3" Y-shaped surface line on right side of crock's front, not visible on interior.
