Rare Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "ORCUTT & MONTAGUE / TROY," New York State origin, circa 1824-1826, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt floral design with circular blossom. Exceptional color and contrast. Some spots of fry to cobalt. Small chips to both handles. 2 1/2" vertical line in surface to right of decoration, which likely occurred during the firing and does not extend through to interior.
