Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt "Fish Scale" Decoration, attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1800, finely-potted ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and footed base, decorated on the front and back with a brushed cobalt "fish scale" or "grape cluster" motif accented with spots. Desirable small size, approximately one-half-gallon. 1" shallow chip to base along with several small base chips. 1 1/2" recessed worn area to rim, possibly in-the-making. Other tiny chips and wear to interior and exterior of rim. H 8".
