Rare Early Ovoid Jug with Cobalt Inscription "Gin," New Jersey origin, late 18th or early 19th century, approximately one-and-a-half-gallon jug with highly-ovoid form, footed base, and heavily-tooled neck, the front featuring the slip-trailed cobalt inscription "Gin". Long, diagonal Y-shaped crack at base, extending toward midsection. Heavy chipping to base. Glazed-over chip to side of handle. Small glazed-over chip to spout. Small, horizontal Y-shaped line to spout.
