One-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout and bail handle composed of wire and wood, the reverse decorated with a large brushed cobalt tulip. Base of spout decorated with wreath-like cobalt brushwork. Includes original tin covers. Spout chip. Chips and wear to handle at base on reverse. Fry to cobalt. Discoloration to clay. Wear to holes at clay handles from use. Dents and light rust to tin covers.
