One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and incised banding around midsection, the front decorated with a wavy flowering vine, underscored by a brushed cobalt stripe. Impressed "1" on reverse. Two thin cracks from rim on front, measuring 4" and 3 3/4" long. Faint 3" vertical line at base, continuing a short distance onto underside. Two thin cracks from rim on reverse, measuring 6" and 4" long. 1 1/4" rim chip on reverse. An additional small rim chip. Two shallow base chips.
