Extremely Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Bowl, Stamped "J. B. LEATHERS / MT. EAGLE, PA," circa 1875, large-sized bowl with rounded sides and flattened rim, decorated with a boldly brushed cobalt tulip across the front. Impressed upside-down below rim with J.B. Leathers maker's mark. Excellent form and highly desirable maker. Attesting to the rarity of this bowl is the fact that it is the first signed example of Leathers pottery we have ever offered. Exceptional rarity and condition. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example consigned from Southern Pennsylvania. Excellent condition. H 6 1/8" ; Diameter 12 1/2".
