Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Folky Cobalt Owl Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder and flared spout, the front decorated with a heavily-brushed cobalt design of an owl with raised leg, humanoid face, and large ear-like tufts. Stylized floral motif to the left, featuring a ball-shaped blossom. Brushed 2 and stripe to the right. Excellent naive decoration. Restored handle and restored spout chip directly beside handle.
