Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Motifs, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, tall collar, and open loop handles, decorated on the reverse with four impressed and cobalt-highlighted flower heads surrounding X-shaped cobalt brushwork. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals and maker's mark. Desirable small size with excellent decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example consigned from the Northeast. One rim chip and one rim nick. Spidering top-to-bottom crack on left side of jar's front. Top-to-bottom spidering hairline on reverse. 1" hairline from rim above one handle. Nicks to base. H 9".
