Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Incised "Morgan Maker," Baltimore, MD, circa 1822-1827, ovoid jug with narrow tooled spout, incised in fine script along the shoulder "Morgan Maker," referring to Willliam Morgan, the owner of a stoneware pottery on Baltimore's Pitt Street. One of a few signed examples of Morgan's jug form known. Later blue-painted design on front. Poorly-restored handle. Base chip on side of jug and a few other minor base nicks. H 12 1/4".
