Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Slip-Trailed Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN / ALEXA," VA origin, circa 1850, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, tooled collar, and wide rounded rim, decorated with large slip-trailed tassels descending from a band of chain links. Shoulder additionally decorated with a wavy cobalt stripe. Collar decorated with heavy cobalt dots. Impressed at base with B.C. Milburn maker's mark. Good decoration and color. Hairline extending across underside and 7 1/4" up front of jar. Base nicks.
