Rare Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "S. AMBOY N. JERSY," attributed to Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded and heavily-tooled shoulder and flared rim, featuring a large impressed maker's mark used at the potting firm of Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts. Brushed cobalt band below rim. Restoration to entire underside, with some paint removed, revealing white filler. (Bottom of jar is possibly entirely restored). Stone ping near base. Hairlines to surface. Heavy chipping to base. Glazed-over rim chip. Additional rim chip on reverse. H 8".
