Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware People Crock with Large Cobalt Decoration of a Woman Flanked by Trees, Southwestern PA Origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled bands and flattened rim, decorated with a large brushed cobalt design of a woman with cape between two folky trees resembling grape clusters. Impressed "4" at shoulder. Some bubbling to cobalt. 2" rim chip on reverse.
