Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird on Stump Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," 1855, cylindrical jug with rounded spout, decorated with an unusual design of a slip-trailed cobalt design of a song bird perched on a tree stump. Base chip. Some small, minor flakes to surface. In-the-firing separations at upper handle terminal.
