Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Pheasant Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a large, boldly-slip-trailed pheasant with turned head and long tail, perched on a split-branched stump. Restored handle. Staining to surface. Faint 2" line at base, probably in-the-firing. Tight line on underside, possibly in-the-firing.
