Early Stoneware Jug with Cobalt "Watchspring" Decoration, NJ or NY/NE origin, late 18th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated with a large brushed "watchspring" motif accented with tassel-like brushwork. 1 3/4" base chip. Other lesser chipping to base. Tight lines at base, typical of early stoneware. Minor nick and a few short, tight lines to spout. Hairline in lower handle terminal. H 14 1/2".
