Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO / PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with stenciled roses surrounding circular maker's stenciling along with a star at the center. Shoulder and base with freehand stripe decoration. Staining to surface. 3 1/2" loss to rim above one handle, along with a 2" hairline extending downward from it. Some tight spidering surface lines to reverse.
