Rare Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Large Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD POTTERY CO," NY State origin, circa 1859, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a well-detailed design of a chicken pecking corn atop a heavily-shrubbed ground. Excellent color and decoration. Provenance: Consigned from Washington State. Flaking to left side and reverse of crock. Chip and 1 1/2" faint surface line in rim on reverse.
