Scarce Large-Sized Stoneware WINE Jug with Coggled Bird Decoration, Old Bridge, NJ origin, circa 1820, approximately four-gallon ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated with a coggled design of birds holding leaves, highlighted in cobalt slip. Impressed "WINE" below spout. Unusually large size. Small base chip on reverse. a few small contact marks to handle, and a small stone protruding at handle. H 16 1/2".
