Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Rooster Decoration, Stamped "CINCINNATI / LIQUOR STORE," attributed to W.H. Farrar, Geddes, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed folk art design of a rooster with large beak, comb, speckled breast, and large tail, perched on top of a looping line design. Slip-trailed "2" to left of decoration. Impressed with the rare cobalt-highlighted advertising "CINCINNATI / LIQUOR STORE". Rare decoration and advertising. Two tiny base chips. Small spout nick. Some bubbling to cobalt. H 14".
