Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Minor chip on underside of one handle. Repaired section to rim on reverse. Chip on interior of rim. Small chips and wear to rim on interior where a lid would rest. H 11 1/2".
