Fine Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Stamped "BROWN POTTERY," Arden, NC, circa 1930, ovoid jug with tall spout and applied handle, decorated with an applied clay face, including bulging eyes, a hooked nose, and an open mouth with large lips bearing four white-glazed teeth. Incised "47" and impressed "BROWN POTTERY" in small letters on underside. Surface covered in a dark brown Albany slip glaze. As-made condition with glazed-over chips to ears. H 7 1/16".
