Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Eagle and Banner Decoration, Stamped "WM. E. WARNER / WEST-TROY," New York State origin, circa 1850, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed spread-winged eagle holding a banner in its beak accented with spots. Desirable figural motif. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example consigned from VA. Spot of fry to eye of eagle. Contact mark on right side of jug. Small chip to handle, probably in-the-firing. H 13".
