Early Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkwell, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / STONEWARE / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1815, short cylindrical form with tooled rim and base, the surface with four quill holes. Brushed cobalt highlight around top edge. Provenance: Sotheby's Sale 6661, Property of the New-York Historical Society. Chips to top edge. 1" flake to underside, small chip to bottom edge, and a small glazed-over chip to bottom edge. H 1 3/4" ; Diameter 4 1/4".
